If that train of HTO’s is loaded with coal to the bottom of the hopper then that (”clean”) Super D is pulling a good load up Hatton Bank, looking forward to seeing this!!.
The one thing that were as rare as hens teeth in the midlands were loco from the LNER and the NER well. The first time i saw any of these was when I went to a family wedding in Durham.
There were LNER locos at Worchester, Banbury,Leamington and Didcot during the seconed war. But these were on loan to the GW. They were not on the GW long and were sent back north early in the war. The GW men did not take to them. Manchester and Liverpool was part of the GCR so would have had some bond with the locos.
Now I said it earlier to someone, get some wires up there and turn it into the Worsbrough incline and a pair of 76’s! with a pair on the back as well of coarse.
Now funny you should say that. We will be announcing are next project at Warley. This will be an exhibition layout that we will take to 3 shows a year. It will be based on what weve learnt so farbuilding Leamington.
Ive read that B1s came down to swindon on sheffeild cardiff trains where the loco would come off for a swindon county or castle. look forward to seeing the new layout. will it be based on anywhere in particular?
In the 1950s and early 1960s Darnall 41A B1 were diagramed to work the
summer York – Bournemouth and other trains onto the Western region also V2s, ocassionally York V2s would work to Oxford.
On several Sundays I visited Oxford Shed (GW) imagine my dissapointment to see Darnall B1s, especially living only minutes from their home shed.

A weatherbeaten Q6 up front and some heavy weathering on the hoppers then it could be Seaton Bank……oh happy days.

There is evidence that a Q6’s got as far as Machester and Liverpool during the war and a K1 getting down to Bristol in 1965 but that was it I think.

Ron I bet you wish you could do that now. Them were the days when we didnt give some locos the time of day as we saw them all the time.
